Stars, Stripes, and Self-Improvement: A Fourth of July Mid-Year Reset Plan
It absolutely blows my mind that it is already July. Where did the time go, and how are we possibly in the second half of the year already?
Many people are currently in relaxation or vacation mode. Maybe you're celebrating with fireworks, having a cookout, or spending time on a boat (that's what I'll be doing). Whatever it is, I hope you have an absolute blast.
When the excitement settles, use the Fourth of July as the spark for a mid-year reset.
I always love to do a mid-year reset around this time of year. Why wait until January to see where you stand on your goals? Take a little time this July to check in, make sure you're on track (or get back on track!), and set yourself up for a successful second half of the year.
Reflection Questions for a Mid Year Reset
Reflection is a powerful tool for assessing your progress towards your yearly goals. It's important to remember that it's okay if your goals evolve over time. Just because you chose a goal initially doesn't mean you can't adjust it as your priorities shift. Adaptability and growth are key to achieving meaningful and fulfilling goals.
Here are some of my favorite questions for a Mid-Year Reset:
What were your original goals or intentions for this year, and how have you progressed towards them?
How have your priorities or values shifted since the beginning of the year?
Are your current goals still relevant and aligned with your long-term vision and values?
What do you want to accomplish by the end of the year, both personally and professionally?
What specific actions or tasks do you need to take to move closer to your revised goals?
What is one small, actionable step you can take today to kickstart your mid-year reset and set yourself up for success?

Additional Resources for a Mid-Year Reset
Once you've taken the time to reflect and assess where you currently stand (because no solid plan can begin without understanding your starting point!), the next step is to establish habits that will help you achieve your goals. Remember, simply hoping or wishing won't make your goals a reality—you need intentional actions and consistent habits to make progress.
The truth is most people do not fail to meet their goals from a lack a motivation. They fail to meet their goals because they do not create habits that align with their goals.
If you want to start creating positive habits and eliminating hurtful ones, Atomic Habits by James Clear is a highly recommended read.
Coaching can also be an incredible tool when learning to develop habits. Sometimes self-motivation isn’t enough to accomplish your goals. A coach can help you break through your barriers and establish a framework that sets you up for success.
